David Kohl Smith is a Canadian child actor and voice actor known for the role he played in the films Shazam in 2019, Chucky in 2021, and The Christmas Chronicles in 2018. David Kohl Smith was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 18, 2010. He attended CMTC while still pursuing his acting career and two months after starting school, he got his first TV commercial.

David began his acting career while still at CMTC and was booked for a TV commercial and several months later, he was featured in the mini-series Teens 101 in 2017 and an episode of Scariest Night of My Life. This was followed by films like Mouthpiece, The Prodigy, The Christmas Chronicles, and Mouthpiece. His breakthrough was in the film Shazam as Young Billy in 2019, the film was a success and gathered audiences worldwide and got him a nomination for Best Performance in a Feature Film.
From 2019 to 2023, he played The Last of Ian Campbell, Surreal Estate, The Great Christmas Switch, and three episodes of Oracle 2; The Dreamland Murders. An episode on the mini-series Painkiller, The Boy in the Woods, and 14 episodes on the TV series Thomas & Friends; All Engines Go. His latest projects were in 2024 where he has played on several films such as an episode of Brilliant Minds, five episodes of Chucky, Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, and Ghosts for one episode. He played young Charles Lee Ray in the series Chucky by SYFY network.
David’s biggest roles were on Shazam and Chucky. Chucky is a child’s play horror franchise Chucky is portrayed as a killer who has a gunshot wound and transfers his soul to a good guy doll then moves it into a human body. The character Chucky became so common and a recognizable horror icon being referenced in popular culture. The series was created by Don Mancini and began airing in 1988. Shazam which was released in 2019 is directed by David F. Sandberg from a screenplay by Henry Gayden, and it is a superhero film based on DC Comics with the same name. The film’s plot is about a teenager who is chosen by an ancient wizard Shazam to be his champion by transforming into an adult superhero by saying the name Shazam.
David won the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV Series Recurring due to his role in the film Chucky and two nominations for Best Guest Youth Actor for the Surreal Estate movie and Best Performance in a TV movie for The Great Christmas Switch.
As a voice actor, David played Thomas in Thomas & Friends; All Engines Go, and All Wheels on Track replacing Meesha Contreras, but he was later replaced by Kai Harris. He has been featured in TV commercials working with clients like MADD Canada, Spin Master, Honda, Ikea, and Folgers. David has been fortunate to work alongside Kim Coates while shooting for Jerusalem.
